Yes.

Basically right.  The source code for the cocoa GUI isn't maintained by
Bram, but as an out-of-tree patchset against Bram's code.  Of course,
you could still build a GTK gvim using the stock sources, but it
wouldn't have the modern mac look-and-feel.
