I may be wrong, but in my experience, gvim doesn't render the fonts using antialiasing for example, so console vim looks much better than gvim. Moreover, gvim has some problems that console vim doesn't have, for example with the ":browse" command (I remember a discussion a time ago regarding this), or with scrolling (which is much more slower in gvim in my machine). If gvim gave me some additional advantage I would investigate a bit more about the fonts or any other problem, but I'm quite happy with console vim so I don't have the motivation. This said, last gvim I tested was the one shipped with Ubuntu, and not the one I'm building now, so I don't know if I will test it again. The only thing that I miss so far is the ability of using italic and bold fonts, but just a little because italic fonts doesn't look good (some characters appear "cut" at the right part because of the slant). > You may have to proceed by trial and error, but I think that any font > used by your console emulator can be used by gvim. Usually I'm happy with DejaVu fonts (or Bitstream Vera, for that matter), and although I've tested some others that looked good, none of them are superior to DejaVu / Bitstream Vera. Finding the font for the GUI is the easiest part ;) -- Raúl "DervishD" Núñez de Arenas Coronado Linux Registered User 88736 | http://www.dervishd.net It's my PC and I'll cry if I want to...
