For me, I find myself muttering at other apps most when I reach for a vim text-object. "What do you mean I have to hold down the <up> arrow until I get to the blank line, then hold down shift and the <down> arrow to select to the end of the paragraph?! Why can't I just operate on the 'inner paragraph' text object without all this hooey?!"
