You should tell about
- whether you're using custom scripts (try starting vim by passing these
  args: -u NONE -U NONE -N  )
- which OS you're running on exactly
- whether you've had a previous installation or this is the first vim
  installation on this system
- which was your installer
- which vim version (:version)
- if its your pc only try creating a different user account and start
  gvim there (to make sure the issues are not caused by strange daemons
  such as niftywindows or such)

I've no clue. I hope someone else has.
