Yes, the problem may lie in your MUA's charset settings. I have no
experience with google mail, which appears to be what you're using, so
cannot say whether it contributes to the display problem. You'll
probably need to fix the problem before being able to contribute
meaningfully to diagnosing this intriguing mapping corruption issue.
