isfnamechar(char) is-the-same-as char =~ '\f'
isprintchar(char) is-the-same-as char =~ '\p'
isidentchar(char) is-the-same-as char =~ '\i'
Or think of "is-the-same-as" as "would-be-the-same-as".
There is no need for such functions, imho.
