I think the fix should be done through the authors because in
general Bram wants the author to do fixes. Otherwise, if the
author sends an update to Bram in a few months, that update will
not have the fix in it.

If you thought it worthwhile, we could put a temporary page on
the wiki with a description of the problem, what needs to be
fixed, and a list of where the fix is needed. Or, you might be
the project manager and maintain a private list?
