So that's perfectly right. And I also have in vimrc:

if filereadable(expand("~/.vim/digraphs.vim"))
 source ~/.vim/digraphs.vim
endif

And in that file:

silent!     dig     0U      9787    "☻  U+263b
silent!     dig     -.      8230    "…  U+2026=…
silent!     dig     eu      8364    "€   Euro sign
silent! dig ok 10003 "✓ silent! dig no 10007 "✗ no ok but no digraph implying s (or ß should I say).
Is this the cause of my pains?
