 I didn't know that. So this is a normal behaviour.
But one usually wants to insert a digraph explicitly by
using the <Control-K> key.

Using the digraph option usually causes more harm than good,
so I wouldn't recommend to set this option.

I don't recall why I defined this option at the time since anyway digraphs work out of the box. So I'll follow your advice and disable the option all together.
