Yes, but he's a genius ...
I'd like to think I am, but meanwhile I can think myself into a pit
if I don't do something. Actually I usually write something by hand
to think things a bit.
I thought you were going to say there was some ancient mac
program which could help with many jobs and with very little hassle.
That's one reason why I keep my mac collection

Computers are supposed to be fun, but maybe depends on what fun is
for you. Also with unix/linux as with many things you have to go
through some stages of a little practice then a little fun.
It pays to have some skill no matter whether its serious or not.
All that said, yes I think unix works best for serious things for me
so far. but for a lot of people it goes the other way, they start with
the unix part, that is actually more normal, for those who are
unix users, from what I have seen.
I think for young people starting in programming it would
be much healthier to start with unix rather than say windows...
unless some old mac ide, which is free nowadays and ok for
basics, w/out having to worry about OS stuff.
