Whoops, I never expected replies on this! I have used a bit of Linux
recently - x86 Linux though, such as Ubuntu and Mepis.

I am primarily a DOS/Windows user, but I love Macs just as much -
mostly because of the unique the user interface.

I have recently used Basilisk II - I used the same Quadra 650 ROM and
7.5.3 install files as I did for SoftMac, but despite that it is set
for Millions of Colors, the Desktop Patterns control panel only gives
me B&W patterns! Oh well, everthing else works. It's good to have
sound, too, which SoftMac doesn't support.

I've signed the LowEndMac Mac OS 8 petition multiple times - I want
Apple to release at least Mac OS 8.0 or 8.1 so I can try it out in the
emulator.
