Hey Guys,
I recently purchased a, believe it or not, brand new still shrink-
wrapped Newer Tech MAXpowr G3 PDS (240MHz G3, 160MHz 1MB cache) card
to use in my 7100/80. The box also included the VideoCaddy card, so
that I can use my HPV video card along with this upgrade. The only
thing missing from the box was the manual and driver disks. Here are
the specs on my new card:

.
This is where my question comes in. I have purchased a Crescendo PDS
upgrade card directly from Sonnet last year. After many hours and
messing with it, I decided it was defective and got an RMA. When I got
the new one, I had also got a new (used) PM 7100 to try it in, as I
was trying to use the first one in a PM 6100. Without really getting
into to much detail here, here's what happened. I wanted to leave no
chance to damage of damaging the new card by mishandling this time, so
I wore a static band and was extremely careful (I have install 100's
of computer cards, by the way). Of course, the new card didn't work. I
tried everything. Got new driver versions from Sonnet, reinstalled
System OS, reset PRAM, rebuilt desktop, everything. I did finally get
the card to work, very intermittently. What was wrong?? It did not fit
tightly enough in the PDS slot. You have to hold the card very steady
at start-up and once in 30 times the extension won't have the red X in
it and the card works great, of course the computer freezes up
constantly. I tried lots of things to hold the card down tight enough
to fix this, but to no avail. Whats really interesting is the my HPV
card, which of course goes in the same slot, fits fine and always
works.
I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions on this issue, but that's
not my main question. My main concern is this: They don't make the
Newer brand cards anymore of course, and I am really afraid of these
PDS cards since my terrible experience with the Sonnet crap.
So, since I don't have the manual or exact drivers for the card, I was
wondering if someone with experience with this specific card could
tell me exactly how they successfully installed theirs as well as any
tips. A PDF copy of the manual or something would be great, along with
a download of the drivers, but not necessary really. I know how to
install the card of course, I just want to know if their is anything I
should be careful of.
I did find this site which has working downloads for most Newer card
drivers, but I do not know exactly which one to use and I am scared to
use the wrong one (due to other Sonnet card problems).

I would greatly appreciate any help at all with this new card. I
promised myself I would stop if this one didn't work, I can't waste
any more time on this now, no matter how bad I want it to work.
