That may be so, but it's still a fascinating "what if," especially for those of us who use (and enjoy using) IIGS keyboards with our vintage Macs. I saw that Applefritter page a while back, but had quite forgotten about it. Many thanks to Mr. Eshelman for bringing it up again. :) It really is too bad that the prototype never made it to mass production. One of the attractions of using the IIGS keyboard with a vintage machine is its small footprint. And the Cassie would have made the footprint even smaller. Alas, the consumers of the time apparently said "no" to a keyboard that was so thin and lightweight. Which is funny, because a casual glance at the Cassie and a white Apple Pro Keyboard (aka The Crumb Tray): http://www.ipodrock.com/images/pro_keyboard_s.jpg ...that Apple *did* ship with their machines for quite a few years reveals some similarities. So perhaps Apple *did* get some mileage out of a "failed" prototype after all.
