3.6V, 1/2 AA size (I like Tadiran myself)...  I wouldn't worry about  
the Amp rating, the system should be drawing micro-Amps from the  
battery...  I don't think I would try jury-rigging a power supply to  
replace the battery.  Just pick up a replacement if the one in your  
machine is dead.  Sometimes a quick off-on can get the computer  
running when the battery is dead, you might want to give it a try.

I don't know where you live, but if you have a BatteriesPlus around,  
they carry them for around $10.
