It is theoretically doable, but it requires more than a wire-switching
adapter.
Actually, it is doable in practice too, :-), because mice that connect
to both types of machine exist(ed). Way back around 1990, I picked
up a discontinued IR mouse. The base station could plug into either
an original serial type port or an ADB port, so it clearly had
circuitry which could work with either one.
There are also plans for a conversion box floating around somewhere,
but it is non-trivial to build. I think it's based on a PIC or ARM
processor with firmware to make the necessary translations--although
the thing I'm thinking of may be just for keyboards and not for mice.
