I have installed Asante e-net cards in a SE/30 and a IIci (same card type in both). If you want to try once again here are a few pointers to places I found information that made my installations work the first time.
1) Installation of OS 7.5.5 according to this recipe: http://www.fenestrated.net/~macman/755/ 2) Here is where I found the switch configuration info for the Asante card: http://stason.org/TULARC/pc/network-cards/netoth_1.html 3) Note the "Slot Address" jumper table at the Stason site. Here is the secret decoder for which "Slot" to assign. Info is about 3/4 of the way down the page, in the "SE/30 PDS slot addresses" table: http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/se30_pds_multiple.html 4, 5) Asante cards for the SE/30 are Apple driver compatible, so I used Apple 1.5.1 Ethernet card drivers, if I recall correctly, I selected nubus adapter when the choice comes up. First time the installation won't work because of a can't remove file error. The ? [can't remember name]? file can't be replaced. Use the unhide tools to find and remove the ?[can't remember name]? file named by the installer in either the Control Panel or Extension folder then re-run the installer: http://www.macdrivermuseum.net/network.html http://www.tempel.org/mac/#UnhideTools I'd ignore item 1 at first and see if you can't make the card work following the other tips first. But, do read the instructions for a 7.5.5 installation and see if you don't want to do it anyway. Hope this finds and fixes a configuration problem for you--frustrating but cheaper if your cars is actually good.
