You could look at the plastics inside the case, most of the time they
have date dials stamped into it.
Or, you could just look it up, if you want to know when that model was
produced; if it's a beige G3 then it was made somewhere between
November 1997, and January 1999. So probably sometime in 1998.
I wonder where the serial number is stored? If it's in the
motherboard, then that would make sense, as you said you had thought
the motherboard had been changed out.
