Ah, "mineral deposits" was the consideration my (tiny little) mind kept dancing around, but couldn't quite come to grips with. It sounds like rinsing circuit boards in tap water may/may not be a good idea, depending on the so-called hardness (mineral content) of the local water. Thank you for the breakdown.
