All this talk of washing logic board actually made me do it :

On Friday, I put one of my dead SE/30's logic board into the dishwasher and
set it to "Hi Temp" and added detergent powder. After the hot bath, I hung
it dry for three days and just now finished putting the board back into the
case. And the results:

Before the wash - SE/30 boots to a blank white screen with various black
lines/dots on it, and dead...

After the wash - SE/30 powers up with a resounding Bong sound and boots
right into System 7.5 desktop. Everything works now. Hey!

Xin

P.S. I have two SE/30s. This one was given to me for free - I did my risk
analysis with an exist strategy, so to speak, in case the dishwasher ruined
it. I also attempted reseating everything and put in a new battery on the
dead SE/30 board before resorting to dishwasher, so I know for certain it's
the dishwasher that did the trick and revived my now bonus SE/30.
