So, I got it in my head to find a copy of MacPaint 2.0. Google pretty
quickly turned up a copy at the Macintosh Garden, and without really
looking very closely I downloaded it. I loaded it into my Mac Emulator
on my PC and fileshared it over to my Mac Classic, and happily ran it
and played with the versions in there. Meanwhile I also loaded it up on
the Mac emulator to try it on a bigger screen to try out the dynamic
window sizing things. All good, no worries.

I shut down the Mac emulator, and immediately my Windows-based antivirus
program sets off an alert for nVIR-A. I look at it funny since not only
do I not expect any viruses, but I'm pretty careful about such things...
normally.

Fortunately I have a copy of Disinfectant 3.0 around, and scan the
emulator. Sure enough, nVIR-A all over the place. I copy that over to my
Classic, and sure enough, it's all over too. Scan and disinfect both,
and it's all good.

But, leave it to me to infect a 20ish year old computer with a 25ish
year old virus.

Of course, if I'd read the comments first, I wouldn't have had the
problem. If anyone else downloads MacPaint from
http://www.macintoshgarden.org/apps/macpaint , be careful. At least it's
harmless.
