My current project is to resurrect my Quadra 840AV. I have the feeling it'll end up somewhat collectible too in the end, though perhaps not quite as iconic as the 128k Macs. Mine is suffering the same collectibility problem as the 128k - yellowed face, dinged up case, missing CD bezel, damaged power button... It sometimes works! I'm suspecting a problem with caps or the SCSI chip.
I had a 840 end up w/ a rotted/corroded battery and bracket. Of course due to the orientation of the board the gunk runs down creating more damage. This is an indicator that stored computers should have the batteries removed - no matter how hard it is to get to it. You might want to check your logic board/battery bracket. -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
