Thanks, I'll try that.

I meant when I am in Linux I want to put some files somewhere where I
can see them when I boot back into the Mac OS.
Having HFS+ support unreliable, I wanted to use plain HFS instead.
Another last resort option of course to use a DOS formatted stick...
ughh.

Note I thought to try a no journaled but that didn't work, however it
may be a good idea if transferring files with os9 ?

I have heard things about ATTO support being better than Adaptec.
Anyway I pulled that card I had in my DA (which was an Adaptec)
because the computer would not boot with my new 9800 ATI card.

When I put leopard on with my Adaptec u160 card, I had to install
drivers for it with the card out or from Tiger to the Leopard drive.
Those drivers the same since 2002 work with Leo but not included. I
have a RAID of two SCSI drives in there - the only problem I have had
is can't restore my boot drive to it bootably (it copies but won't
boot afterward) so I am just using it for data.

Anyway at this point having had Leo for a year I am pretty convinced I
still need Tiger somewhere or two to help me with my vintage macs.
I have a lot (like 10) of these old 50 pin SCSI 2 external drives, I
need to clean them up, I need a nice stable bus to string several out.
Never mind the scanner with os9, an internal SCSI zip drive (the best
of the lot I have tried ATA and external), and even a Jazz drive (with
a bunch of old cartridges) and a CD burner.

Although another issue for even Tiger is lack support for SCSI disk
target mode of powerbooks other than those which are really scsi
(seems Apple left out the driver).

So I am also trying to set up a desktop powerpc that boots os9 well,
maybe that is actually the best option. I am trying to get my life
simplified, I have a big mess with my mac stuff. I know it is
confusing me. I need some systematic set up, I do want to use the
Vintage machines and OSes more.
