Bob, Thank you so much for all your help with my problems, I'll give the battery a try a first, hopefully that will work. Sorry I have so many questions I'm just so happy I found someone that knows what I should look for and try, so I can maybe fix my old Quadra.I wish I knew more about computers and was more savvy like you are.
I clicked on the link you sent for Amazon but it said nothing matched that search, so I did a search just for a Mac Quadra 840AV battery andsaw an Apple Macintosh Quadra 840AV CMOS battery, it's a 3.6 volt 1/2 AA battery. Is that what I need to buy? Where will it be located inside the computer? Is it very hard to replace? If the battery doesn't fix the problem and it is my hard drive failing can I just put in another one? I saw a couple for sale on the Mac-Pro.com site for about $50.00 each.
