I got a 145b from my dad, who got it from some guy at his church, who
probably had it sitting on a shelf for 10 years. Initially, I had the
same problem you are. I think what finally got it going for me was
pressing one or both of the small buttons (I think it was the one with
the diagram of a little v in a circle, not the triangle) by the power
button WHILE pressing the power button, and alternating with resetting
the PRAM. It seemed like it had gotten to the point where it just
forgot how to boot up, and had to be reminded. After getting that
first startup chime, things got easier, but I do remember that I had
to employ my trick 5-10 times before it started to just start up on
its own. Once I got it running, I let it run off the wall power
(battery is completely dead) for an hour or so. Since then it starts
up first time, every time.
