Wow! That's really interesting…I have a PB 190 which was just laying
around for several years and the battery was so bad to the point of
having corrosion form across the contact points. However once I
plugged in the power supply it booted fine. I now have it running just
fine with the battery removed.
I have a PB 145 with the same problem…screen "kind of" lights up but
that's about it. The friend who gave it to me said that he had been
having HD problems so when I get around to it I'm planning to hook up
to an external CD drive and try to boot from an original System disc.
I'll let the group know the results.

I'm assuming you're referring to the internal PRAM battery and not the
computer's operational battery?
