Jason, Don't be patient. I have purchased more than $200 worth of merchandise from Manabu Sakai in the past, so I speak from experience. And unless things have changed over the last couple years, he still lives with his parents too. I've never found him to be a man of speed.
Have a look at his site: http://www.artmix.com/j_home.html It says in Japanese "Sample Shipments Started." That implies he should have had at least one sample in stock to ship to someone. The fact he has made you wait 2 months says that he ran out of samples but did not update his site to inform potential buyers, and now he is making you and everyone else who wants one wait until manufacturing completes. My company is based on Japan. We buy from China and Taiwan. I can tell you that there are no "weather issues" that would halt a shipment from his factory for two months. The only two things I can think of are: 1) He submitted a manufacturing request to his factory in Taiwan or China in early July. The typical lead time in such cases is 3 months. 2) His factory went bankrupt due to bad economic times and he has been trying to find a new factory to build his device. Perhaps he found a new factory but that reset all the lead times. Or it could be that he is using the same factory but chip suppliers discontinued chips or delayed them. That is especially true if any of the components were sourced from Northern Japan where the 9.0 quake hit. Regardless of reason, he owes you further explanation. That explanation is also important to others browsing this thread who certainly are interested in a possible purchase of his CF card device for the SE/30. Manabu Sakai won't steal your money. But if you don't speak up, he will just keep it, remain silent, and make you wait. Since he has your money, assuming you don't want a refund (which I am sure he would honor), you have ever right to get at least a weekly update from him about what is going on. Ask him for specifics. He might tell you. He is not a bad person or dishonest. He's just a bit eccentric at times. Best, James Wages -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
