I have been attempting to resurrect a Plus (1 mb, though I suspect it's been upgraded). Unfortunately, the Photon 40 external hard drive seems to have failed, and I didn't know to remove and lubricate the floppy drive before I tried to boot off a System 7 rescue disk. I can't get the floppy drive out, since a cable seems to have fused to the board and I can't access the screws. It still tries to boot, though.
So, my questions: can I leave the internal floppy disconnected and boot from a Zip? How would I get the system 6 images onto a Zip and make it bootable? I have a Lombard running 9.1 and a PB 180 running 7 that I could use. I think I may also be able to find some system 4 floppies, if they can be booted from a Zip. Also, does it need the cmos battery to boot? No immediate networking plans, so I don't mind if it thinks it's 1969.
