This usually takes the place of some RAM capacity, but it's worth it. You might hunt about and see if LaserJet 6MP Postscript modules are available. In pre-OSX in order to use a printer, either the printer had to have a Postscript interpreter, and then one could use the LaserWriter 8 driver (extension) with appropriate printer PD files, or there had to be a serial port print driver (extension) for that specific printer available.
