With respect to the startup sequence and no video:

What I would be doing in this case is remove any and all parts that don't
need to be attached either externally or internally.

The idea here is isolation. It might be power related or something not
plugged in correctly.

I honestly do not know what might not be causing video but I left you some
basic steps/advice in a previous reply. Check for bent pins on the card to
the cable to the monitor. Check the cable for any cuts. Does the monitor
work with another computer?

What happens if you boot from a floppy drive? Any video then?

Try the NuBus card in a different slot.

Disconnect any device that is not immediately necessary, inculding keyboard
and mouse and even the HD — boot from floopy. These are old Macs, but very
cool, it's possible that there could be a power supply issue but I have my
doubts unless you leave us info on anything suspicious.

Look for capacitors who appear to be bulging at the top, typically a
teltale sign of a faulty capacitor. If the power supply is suspected then
open the PSU to check for this symptom.

Does the power supply look normal, sound normal, are there any odd sounds
that you should tell us about? Depsite the no video issue, does the mac
remain on for as long as it is being fed power? Does it switch itself off?
Do you sense large amounts of heat coming from any part of the computer
that might seem abnormal?

If possible, try the same video card and monitor on a different computer to
rule them out.

I hope this is helpful albeit general. These are mostly probing and
analyzing that might lead to some isolation and eventual repair or simply
reseating devices like the card or other connectors internal or extrenal.

Keep us posted. I for one would love to see your fx up and running and I am
really glad someone is taking care of such a classic!
