This is true. PATA drives have a 40-pin connector, which could be confused with a 50-pin SCSI one at first glance. The model number of this one suggests it is a 4.3GB model, pretty small compared to what you should easily be able to find now. Both the beige and blue-and-white G3s would have come with a PATA drive originally, and you should look for a similar replacement.
