I believe that's common to the "Pizza Box" Mac's. I have a PM6100
that does the same thing.
A couple of options:
You could get one of those power distribution boxes that has separate
switches for computer, monitor, printer, aux1, etc.
Option #2, If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could wire an
in-line switch on the monitor's power cable. If you do that, may as
well use a standard computer power cable & plug the monitor into the
wall or power strip... No sense mucking up one of those special power
cables that goes to the monitor power connector on the back of your
computer.
