Make sure AppleTalk is Active in the Chooser. The
AppleTalk control panel should be set to Ethernet.

Macs often have a nasty tendency to switch
AppleTalk from ethernet to the modem or printer
port if they don't detect other computers (even if
they aren't Macs) on the network when booted up. :P

If you have Open Transport, make sure TCP/IP is set
to connect via Ethernet, set the User Mode to
advanced,
click Options and set it to Active and _uncheck_
load only when needed.

As for MacTCP, uhhh, never used it myself so I'm a bit
underqualified on what to look for with it.

If it's an Asante or other well known brand of NIC,
System 7.5's ethernet drivers should support it.
With system 7.x you'll need the drivers for the card.
7.1.x is really the latest System you'd want to use
on an LC with 10megs RAM.

I ran 7.1 with the Drag Manager, Thread Manager and
CFM68k additions on a Performa 550 with only 12 megs
RAM and a 160meg HD. It worked pretty good, even often
beat my 66Mhz Power IIci and Basilisk II running on my
PIII (faster than any real 68k Mac!) with the aIndy
brain in Bolo. :) Yup, two real and one emulated Mac
all networked and playing a three way game of Bolo.
(I thought about jacking in the P75 Dell laptop but it
runs Basilisk II about the speed of an LC.)

P.S. I like computer games that can ply themselves
in multiplayer _without_ needing any human players.
Watching the AI at work without having to play the
game yourself gives great insights into how to win. :)
