Did you check the settings on the back of the CD-ROM?  Make sure the ID # is
set to say "4".  I believe you can't use 1 or 7.  Check the website of the
manufacturer and see if you can get the latest version of the driver for the
CD-ROM.  I'm using an 8X LaCie CD-ROM and I was able to d/l the latest
version of the driver.
