A possible point to add.
BEFORE hitting Reply, read ALL of the post. If you
see something that offends you or otherwise makes
you want to have a knee-jerk reaction, read the whole
post again. This applies to Usenet, bulletin boards
and mailing lists. That will ensure that you
understand
what the poster is saying or asking (if its
understandable at all) and allows for "cooling off".
There is _plenty_ on this list that I pass by without
comment because I either don't feel able to give
a useful answer or I don't feel needs further comment.
(Aims that at those who've stepped in as
"co-listmoms".)
I _don't_ expect this list to be all stuffy and
reactionary toward some things that aren't strictly
"Pure Mac". I've heard plenty about that on here from
people who've been on the Compact Macs and some of
the PowerMac lists. They don't sound like fun places
to be. If you can't have any fun at all, then why
bother? ;-)
I didn't expect any reply to that quote of Tatsuya
Ishida's simple plea for unity. I couldn't have
posted it before the saturday "deadline" as it
didn't exist until Monday. That was the last thing
I was going to post that has any relation to the
events
of the 11th. (IMHO his comic strip is funnier than,
well, a place that some people don't believe in. ;-)
If you're into horrible irony, his message on his
website posted on the 10th was something about
simplifying everything and ended with a punchline
about an airplane pilot telling the passengers to
hold on while he reduced the plane to its component
parts.
So that is _it_, no further coments from me on 9/11/01
or the middle east etc, etc. But I can't say that I'll
never ever ever make another off-topic post.
