I have an absolutely beautiful IBM 6091-19 19" monitor that I wish could be made to work on a Mac easily. Alas, 'tis a fixed frequency type, though not as "fixed" as some. ;) (See end of post about why you should be wary of big but cheap monitors.)
The 6091-19 were originally used on IBM RS/6000 systems and one was staring Gary Kasparov in the face when he lost to Big Blue. It's also HEAVY at 75 pounds! My 19" TV weighs nowhere near that. I wonder what IBM put in those things?!? Fortunately it came with a low-ish end PC with a customized PCI videocard for the monitor. Only cost me $45. I just doubled the RAM, tossed in a 6gig HD and I should easily get $200 on a yard sale for it. :) Also fortunate that the customizer of the card is still around and had all the drivers and utils freely downloadable. So just a warning, if you see a big, bold, bodacious but bargain monitor, beware and research the make and model because it might be some older high end workstation one that isn't designed to work with run of the mill Macs and PCs. P.S. The CRT is a Sony Trinitron, ooooo-yeah. ;) ===== http://www.junkscience.com "All the Junk that's fit to Debunk!" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
