HI,

The configuration is as follows: IIci with 32mb RAM / 160MB HD &
cache card, connected to Macintosh Color Display, This is the only
model name/number printed on the unit. On the back of the monitor,
the placard reads "Macintosh Color Display" The power specs say:
"100-240v ~ 50-60Hz 1.3A Max" It is from Family number M1212, and
has a Factory ID of: SDN. It is a 15 inch monitor with a 14 inch
viewable screen (part of the display is blacked out, even at higher
resolutions) It's got a 1992 copyright on it. I got it from a
company that was throwing it out, and it was attached to a performa
6115.

Before I got my 21" monitor, I used this one with my 7200 and it
worked fine. When I use it with the IIci this is what happens: When
I cold start the machine I get no video at first. If I press and
hold the reset button on the front of the IIci I do get a gray
screen, but no cursor or anything. When I let go of the reset
button, the screen blacks again. What I do to get the video going is
pull the connector out of its port and then put it back in. This
usually kicks the video in. Don't know why. I've visually inspected
the connections and there are no modifications to the MoBo or video
bank. The only addition to this IIci is the IIci cache card. I have
recently added RAM, it used to have 16, now it has 32mb, but other
than that, it appears to be in original configuration.

I'm lost! I've zapped the PRAM, gave it a new PRAM battery, rebuilt
the desktop, replaced the screw-down dealies from the monitor cable
(one side was stripped and wouldn't tighten) and I'm now using an
Apple power cord on the monitor (was a 3rd party cord before, though
I don't think that should make a difference - I tried it anyway) The
strange thing is that once the machine is warmed up, I can warm-boot,
turn the monitor off and on from it's power button, change
resolutions, etc. with no problem. But the second I power off the
IIci, I have to go through the process of un-plugging and re-plugging
the monitor cable again.

So what do you think? Problem with the MoBo? I don't see any
soldering on it anywhere...
Is the cable bad? It seems to work fine on both my DuoDock and my 7200.....
Is the IIci's montior bank bad? How can I tell? When I hooked up my
21" montior to the IIci, i got nothing but gray screen - I presume
that there is not enough VRAM to push my 21" monitor...but I'm no
video expert...

that's all the info I have, tell me what to try and I will...I'm
worried that if I keep having to un-plug and plug the cable I'm going
to put way too much wear and tear on the port, wich was not designed
to be used in this way. Thanks for any help!
