The copyright issue is a world wide joke. Whole, entire, countries
and populations do not honor US copyright laws. Heck, you can buy a
copy of Windows newest OS on good clean CDs on the streets of
Bangkok, bundled with their newest office all for 10 bucks unless you
get them down to 5 dollars. What a nightmare? The copyright law for
software written in 1978 gave advantage to software companies to make
millions off of junk and when it didn't work or quit working you got
to buy a backup for 10 bucks but after that it went back up to 50
bucks. THere are sites on the Net that you can download the newest
edition of everything. But it operates out the mousetrap level of our
economy. If a company can come up with a better, cheaper, or
potentially cheaper product, ... we're looking at new rules of the
game. How about Apple and Sun, marketing a cheaper Suite of Office
Applications. I bet Microsoft lives on the edge everyday they look
at the industry because it would only take a year to see their market
go to nothing. Anybody remember, Wordstar, Deskmate, Allwrite, ... .
Tough stuff.
