Of course computers behave better when you call them by name! All of mine
have have had names, from my first, circa 1983, a ModComp Zorba Z-80 CP/M
machine named El Greco. Usually, I wait for the machine to reveal its true
character (if not its True Name) before naming it and connecting it to the
network.

I had a friend who could do that to El Greco on a regular basis. To say she
was high-energy would be an understatement. I never thought of hanging some
warding crystals ne El Greco when she was around.

Long ago, when micro-computers used cassette tapes for mass storage, I
worked as an OS maintenance technician for large main-frame computers. Even
those systems would acknowledge the presence of one who knew their True
Names. I could tame systems that even the operators couldn't manage because
I took the time to learn the True Name and true character of each system I
worked with.
Ask me some day about computers and the Way.

No matter how paranoid you are, it isn't paranoid enough.
