This will only work if you have SE fdhd or SE superdrive. Normal SE's 
have a rom chip that cannot handle superdrives.

Can a SE handle a 8x cd-romo well enough?

I doubt these are compatible with the SE, the plus or the classic.

System 6 disk images can be found at ftp.apple.com. Why should you 
want to make a bootable mac os 6.08 cd-r? It is likely possible. 
Toast allows the creation of system 6 compatible (that is system 6 
without desktop manager installed) cd roms.
