THe network software selector doesn't work on some older 68k Macs, 
mostly '030 or older Macs IIRC.

I had a real 'mare with this on an SE/30. I ended up using a hidden 
file finder app to strip out a load of invisible stuff in the 
Extensions and System Folder. I can't remember what, I wasn't being 
terribly discerning at the time IIRC.
