I actually know some people who are doing a web site to store information and code for old computers. The problem being worked out now is how to automate things like user contribution, because collecting the information itself is a huge job. > than the $220 annual cost of hosting the MDM. I need $50 a month for colocation. The hardware is practically free. Most people waste money buying expensive servers when perfectly good ones are being thrown away daily. You could reduce the traffic and load on your site by not using shtml. Every page load on your site requires a new fetch, even though the pages aren't changing. They should be coming from a local proxy or browser cache instead. > Lastly, you are more than welcome to take the software from the MDM and use > it for a all-encompassing site. Actually, a little Perl scripting would probably reduce the time you put into the site. My current WWW project is using M4 macros and UNIX Makefiles to automate most of my web site. I got tired of manually editing things. m4 isn't for the faint of heart of course. Another idea would be to get together and create a vintage-mac CD. You can usually do them so fast no one has time to sue you... :) -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
