-- Dan, I recently had similar problems in two different machines. I was able to save one and could not save another. It's possible that the problem is software or hardware related. If you have a copy of Norton Utilities on a CD you can start up with that and see if Nortan Disk Doctor can see the drive. If not you can go to the menu bar and look for "mount custom disks" and try that. If you can get to the disk that way you might be able to repair it. You can also try DiskWarrier which is great for recovery but is not good at finding some damaged disks. In addition there are a number of free utilities that are pretty good. You can get Mt.Everything (68kor/and PPC versions) here: http://www.overnet.de/hhp/mte/ It's free. You can also download DataRescue which is shareware that can find lost volumes on a disk which problem you may have.
