Hold down Command Optoin Shift Delete and the top row
number key from 0 through 6 matching the SCSI ID#
of the drive you want to boot from. If you have only
one bootable drive on the external bus and it's ID#
is not 0 (must not be 0 because the internal HD is 0,
don't use 3 either because that's the default ID#
Apple always set their CD-ROMs to) then holding the
number is optional. The number pad keys don't work
for this trick.

OK, got yourself contorted around holding all those
keys? Good. Now figure out a way to turn on the
power. :)

That should force a boot from the external SCSI bus.
If it doesn't....?
