Well, I know this much...it's definitely not a corrupted installer ;)

Let's go back to Light 3 for a moment. How are your POP3 settings configured?
For most POP3 servers, authentication should be set to "Passwords" and you
should *not* be using the XTND XMIT to check for mail, or the % hack to avoid
sendmail DNS delays.

See if those are set, and see if changing them to the proper settings makes any
difference.
