I concur.  Some installers use a relative location so the first 
method would work in those cases.  But some installers look for the 
disk by name and the first method won't work for that.  Usually the 
Diskcopy method will work.

I've used Diskcopy images of CD-ROMs  both on a server to serve the 
'CD-ROMs' and on a laptop to  either have a CD-ROM on a laptop 
without a CD-ROM drive or just convenience in not carrying along the 
CD-ROM.  In the 20-25 CD-ROMs I've done this with I think there was 
only one it didn't work for.  This includes a couple of CD-ROMs that 
are required to be mounted to run the program (copy protection).
