So rather than defending brackets as the preferable option can you give me a reason or two why underlining shouldn't be used. Please ignore Links sent by Mozilla as its a pure bug. The fore and aft _ gets attached to incoming messages if a word has been underlined to highlight it. As a example, the second paragraph up is what moz makes of your underlined should while everything was what bold? For me underlining is transparent and holds the link together, forcing it to one line without corrupting either spaces or _ characters in a link. It also works happily across all the machines I've sent email from. Examples like Pauls and Stuarts would be easy enough to avoid without worrying about what email client your running, bar Moz.
