As I recall, the Quadra 950 uses unterminated hard drives on the internal 
buss and adds a terminator at the end of the ribbon cable.

Depending on the drive, it either has a place for terminating resistor 
packs (generally a row of "holes" near the SCSI connector on the drive 
circuit board) or hard wired terminator resistors that are "engaged" by 
placing a jumper on a set of pins on the circuit board.

Bottom line: I believe you are right; the drive needs to be terminated 
and is not.
