Not sure how relevant it is, but experience tends to show that if you want to
write disks that'll work in anything then you need to use a write-once drive
and not burn at anything other than single or dual speed (and of course only
use good quality disks). You might not want to use those disks on any other
machine right now, but you might in the future (or on existing hardware but
with a different drive).

Find a secondhand quad-speed write-once drive and go and make a nice cup of tea
whilst you burn disks :)
