I learnt from the PB list that some PB display can suffer from this symptom:

The adhesive allows a minute amount of water vapor to penetrate, as this happens the display will continue to darken from the edges to the center. The problem is more acute in environments with higher humidity.

This is actually what happens to the TFT PowerBook 180 screen. I have had this PB since 1994 and recently I replaced the display with one from an older PB.

Any ideas? Is the vapor thing just a legend or what?
