Poke around here ftp://ftp.umax.com.tw/ for lots
of UMAX software for their scanners and other
hardware. If you're downloading a file and getting
an insanely fast transfer rate on a modem, cancel
the download because the file has become corrupted
somewhere along the line. I tried several times to
get one 80+ meg HQX encoded file from that server and
it would rip along insanely fast. The compression*
acheived was phenominal because after the first few
K every character in the file was the same! Create an
80meg text file filled with nothing but the letter
A then ZIP or Stuffit. ;) Probably fit on a floppy.

*That's the modem to modem data compression done on
the fly as the file is downloaded.
